II. IELTS WRITING TASK 2 - SAMPLE ESSAYS CHỦ ĐỀ ENVIRONMENT
1. Some people believe that all wild animals should be protected. Others say that only a few wild animals should be protected. Discuss both views and give your opinion.
⇒ Sample Essay:
Several individuals state that every species of wild creatures needs protection. Some argue that mankind should only concentrate on certain kinds of animals. While viewpoints towards this matter may vary, I suppose that some wild animals ought to be kept from harm.
On the one hand, various people claim that humans have the responsibility to conserve all natural species. This opinion may stem from animal rights, which requires everyone to treat animals humanely, preventing all forms of animal exploitation, animal suffering and animal slaughter. What is more, since all breeds are parts of the biodiversity, conserving them may help to maintain a balanced ecosystem. For instance, if a particular kind of organism becomes extinct, their predators will suffer from hunger then gradually decline, which enormously disrupts the natural food chain.
On the other hand, I tend to support the view that only animals being on the brink of extinction should be protected. Although biodiversity plays a vital part, it would be unwise to invest the vast majority of our resources on various preservation projects. As a consequence, the authorities could experience great financial burden as funds supporting wildlife protection may cause a significant strain in essential sectors such as medical, health, education, electricity and so on. In addition, there is a wide range of harmful species which should be regulated to ensure human’s wellness. Rats, for example, pose a threat to human health, contaminating food and carrying diseases.
In conclusion, it is nearly impractical to conserve all species of wild animal. Personally speaking, priority should only be given to those worthwhile creatures which are on the verge of extinction.

2. People think that the government should increase the cost of fuel for cars and other vehicles to solve environmental problems. Give your opinion.
⇒ Sample Essay:
Over many decades, environmental matters have always been a controversial topic from all citizens around the world. Many people believe by uplifting fossil fuel costs can reduce unnecessary journeys made by cars and other vehicles. Though I agree with this opinion, I hereby suggest some other feasible ways to reduce air pollution and to improve the quality of the environment.
As we can see, national authorities play a vital role in environmental issues. By putting the rise in natural gas prices into action, car owners and motor drivers are likely to consume less and as a result, a reduction in transportation and any kinds of journeys running on roads will be made. Meanwhile, national authorities should warn people about the unfortunate accidents along with negative effects caused by private cars and other vehicles, so that they can encourage and enhance the use of public transportation. Secondly, from the viewpoint of freight services, they ought to find an alternative way to deliver the merchandise in case the official regulation on the gas price would have been made. Both these measures would cut down on emissions from vehicles, aid to alleviate the greenhouse effect and recover the fresh air quality.
Contrary to the temporary solution to fuel prices, some other potential measures can be added up to tackle environmental issues. The government can introduce some transport policies to control the upcoming number of private car ownership. For example, recently, Vietnam has imposed some new regulations to strictly control the driving test. Besides public transportation, the government can support more environmentally friendly transports like using electric motorbikes, bicycles, and scooters. As for the capital of the Netherlands, Amsterdam is considered one of the most famous destinations for its cycling culture.
In conclusion, I consider increasing the fuel price is one method of controlling gas emissions. Despite the government being accountable, people inevitably must lend a helping hand to solve the problem together and for the benefit of our future generations as well as the well-being of the existing community.

3. The consumption of the world’s resources (oil, water, etc.) is increasing at a dangerous rate. What are the causes and solutions?
⇒ Sample Essay:
It is true that natural resources depletion is severely detrimental to the socio-economic development of a nation due to uncontrolled overconsumption of non-renewable sources of energy. There are a number of justifications behind this point of view and several solutions should be proposed accordingly to alleviate the harmful effects of this phenomenon.
On the one hand, there are two primary reasons why these resources are being utilized excessively. The first one is that world resources are greatly beneficial to the socio-economic development of a country. For example, policies related to the inventions of electric cars and unmanned aeroplanes using environmentally-friendly energy are adopted, though, there is no sound substitute for gasoline and diesel as a major supply of fuels for modes of transportation. In addition, oil and coal are still irreplaceable materials in order to fulfil the requirements of complicated procedures in factories. Another reason is that seeking for replaceable substances requires more expenses from national and local authorities. Alternative sources of energy such as solar and wind power are strongly taken into consideration as the potential replacement for fossil fuels, however, due to their proper characteristics, it is giving more funds that serve for producing useful equipment to convert solar and wind power into energy.
On the other hand, measures should be taken not only by governments but also by international bodies to decelerate consumption of the world’s resources. Firstly, restrictions should be introduced at a larger scale so as not to waste resources. For instance, citizens will not be allowed to leave the water running in their own houses if they go outside. Besides, people’s awareness of utilizing electricity effectively should be raised, especially during rush hours. Secondly, multinational corporations should cooperate with each other for the purpose of mitigating natural resources depletion. It is imperative that they set up international bodies and fundraise for these organizations to prioritize expenditure on some certain projects related to alternative energy sources. This contributes to a reduction in the rate of consumption of non-renewable resources.
In conclusion, it is clear that there are various justifications for people’s increased proportion of using the world’s resources and steps should be taken to tackle this problem.
