One of the most incredible places I know for wildlife watching is Cúc Phương National Park, located in the north of Vietnam, around 120 kilometers from Hanoi. It’s the oldest national park in the country and a true paradise for nature lovers.
Cúc Phương is home to a diverse range of species. You can spot endangered primates like the Delacour’s langur, various species of colorful birds, and countless types of insects, some of which are endemic to the region. The park also has a primate rescue center, which focuses on conservation and rehabilitation of endangered monkeys and gibbons.
The best time to visit is during the dry season, from December to April, when the weather is pleasant and wildlife activity is at its peak. In spring, you might even be lucky enough to witness the butterfly season, where thousands of butterflies flutter across the forest paths. It's absolutely magical.
People visit Cúc Phương not just to see wildlife, but also to reconnect with nature. The lush forests, limestone mountains, and ancient trees create a peaceful and almost otherworldly atmosphere. For many visitors, it’s a chance to escape the hustle and bustle of city life and appreciate the importance of biodiversity and conservation efforts.
